Implying EOS M users won't be doing anything more than posting to FB? Pretty insulting to the photographers here who've ordered one. But that's ok, I remember all your derogatory posts from last year when it was released, so I'm sure everyone will just laugh it off. Still funny that you're here a full year later spouting the same stuff...

Can you comprehend what you read? Please reread my post and show me exactly where I state or even imply EOS-M users only post to Facebook. I think your rush to post a stupid comment got ahead of your brain. I suggest you read every word and understand every word before posting again...otherwise you just start looking very foolish.

Considering that you've insisted previously that this is just a P&S, that without a viewfinder you only get snapshots "which most end up on Facebook in very low Rez and quite often blurry", and now you're going on and on about only posting to Facebook, I'd say you're still trolling 12 months on.

Congrats, most people would have moved on, but this shows true dedication...

The more power to you! I'd rather go for a cheap camera with a good sensor for when I don't want to log my DSLR around... I'm definitely not getting the M as a setup I'm ready to shell out over a grand on. Buying this one therefore makes sense while it's on sale...and now I can hardly until tomorrow when I go pick mine up from the Purolator service point!

Me too!

My M is on the slow boat (Amazon free shipping), so it'll be another week or so. Can't wait to try it out. The adapter has already shipped.

you think? I think it's a great way to make people wonder how long it will take to deeply discount the next model or wonder like BrickR if there will be a next model. canon never dumps its DSLRs like this so soon after release.

Or maybe Canon is being realistic about the value of the M relative to competing products.

because they had no choice? canon really misjudged the market then.

Keep in mind that in the past year, they've blown cameras out as well:

Sony NEX 5N, $429 last November (external link)

Canon is also up against used/refurbished models like the J1 for $199 (external link).

The problem is Canon was late to the game, and thought "good enough" would be, well, good enough. Except the other companies already have several years of models out, allowing them to discount old stock, sell refurbished models, etc, whereas Canon came out at a sky-high price ($800 I think?) and even had it priced relatively high previous to this sale ($600). Heck, even the newly released 3N has a power-retractable zoom, pop-up camera and 16-50mm lens and it's still only *retails* for $500, $100 less than the M with the 22mm...

It's a crowded marketplace, and Canon better bring their A game on their next model(s).

Putting aside price. EOS M only has a few lenses available. So between the two I'd choose SL1 because it can use any of more than 60 Canon lenses, plus a host of third party, and literally millions of vintage lenses via adapters.

The EOS M has just about as many lens compatibilities as the SL1 with the EF-M to EF-S/EF adapter, except maybe vintage lenses. And I don't know why, aside from style I guess, you'd want to use vintage lenses with a body specifically designed for more casual use.

So, I gave in and ordered via amazon when they offered the kit w/the 22mm for $299.99. It seems like a no brainer for me consider I have been back and forth with what I would be taking with me to my Disney Trip come August. Upon receiving it, I also ordered a Canon 270EX II and a EOS-M Adapter so I could throw my L lenses from time to time.

So the day came ( yesterday ) when everything arrived, I was stoked none the less and went ahead and started toying w/the goods. When doing so I just couldn't get a real feel for it. It felt so weird to hold as I've been so use to holding my 5d Mk3 and I just couldn't get it to feel comfortable. I played with it for nearly 4 hours in and out of my house with the 22mm, my 50 1.2, and a 50 1.8 i had lying around and still could not come to like it. Although I think the Camera itself was great, It just didn't work for me. So off back to Amazon it went.

Moral of the story is that while it may be a bargain for the price, it definitely wasn't worth it for me.

Now that there is a Samyang/Rokinon 16mm lens with native EF-M mount, it makes me wonder how many more lenses might start appearing for the EF-M mount. Exciting to say the least!
