First time lightstand/B800 user... what is wrong here?

This has threads because it's for a background stand. The cross bar fits over this then you use a washer and wingnut to lock it down. I do not want to cut the threads.

I need to order a spigot that will work out better. It wobbles pretty good. I don't want any stress
