Hi Guys

I just pledged money on this Indiegogo campaign
it looks like an awesome attachment for an on camera light for anyone shooting video
or when you need a little bit of light instead of using a flash
(i have already asked the guys making it for a Gel holder accessory)

its a flashlight, that produces up to 1600 lumens, but can be easily dialed down to about 10 Lumens

Looks like a great design, but at the price point, I'm not in... Maybe $75.00-$125.00... (Maybe).. There are many other lights out there with similar features, but not the same design attributes. I guess that's what you're paying for though.. I'd bet the flashlight community will go for it in droves....

It's too bad their audience would be for serious hobbyists because if it could be done cheaper, I'm sure it would expand the market to the average person with a little disposable income.

I feel its priced fairly, for the output, runtime, size, features and judging by Cryos's other products, Quality.
Getting 1600 lumens out of a package that small requires quite a bit of work, high performance leds, good thermal management, and in that form factor, tricky machining.
Its pocket sized, but will push out a lot of light

that said, I am one of those flashlight guys, and dont mind spending $300 for a tiny little titanium light, or $800 on a big searchlight - so for me $175 was a no brainer - i have been using a 1000 lumen custom modded Surefire 9P (by our fellow member ElectronGuru) to light up scenes for photos at night - i paid over $300 for it a few years back.
if this one gets fully funded, i will be mounting it to my hotshoe when doing jobs at night (when its too dark for AF to work properly)

No doubt about any of your points…. I'm sure it will do very well and is a drop in the proverbial bucket for many, but for me, (the non-hobbiest) I may have immediately pulled the trigger at 100 bucks. The $175.00 made me think twice and hesitated the impulsive contribution.(purchase)..

It's a great share on POTN as well, so I'm not flaming it, just sharing my personal opinion..

No worries, your thoughts and contribution is welcome

A few years ago i would have agreed with you - now i spend more money, less often on better quality gear (better tools, better lenses, good tyres for the car, nicer beer) as i have found the better stuff lasts longer, and is more enjoyable to use
(not saying this is a high quality light, Im sure it will be, but no-one has one yet, so we cant tell)
