I'm just wondering if anyone can shed any light on whether or not I can use this in bulb mode without having to hold the shutter button on my phone constantly?

i.e. Click shutter button, expose for 60 seconds, click to finish exposure?

I've had a search on the forum and the canon website but can't find anything myself.

Thanks.

The little I've read suggests you have to hold the button throughout the duration of the exposure, which sucks. Hopefully, if this is indeed the case, they update it promptly!

Oh, well that's annoying! Look like I'll be buying an actual remote sometime in the near future then..unless they update it very soon!

There's an amazing Android app I use called DSLR Controller (external link) that I can recommend highly. The only restriction would be if you have a compatible Android device.

Sounds like they could make that a lot better for sure, like press to start and it starts a timer....or even better, set up your own timer and tap to start it with automatic stop.

Yeah they really could, that would be even better actually, good idea!

I struggle to connect my iPhone to my 6D half the time as well...maybe some improvements in that department too!

Seriously, a used 8gb Nexus 7 and a couple bucks in software and you have yourself a top notch remote/intervalometer/HD liveview monitor for as little as $100, and that's not taking into consideration the fact that it's a nice little tablet for everyday use as well. I've used a similar setup with a 30 foot USB cable with great success. It allows me to stay close to my beer cooler.

Oooo, interesting! I might have to have a look at this then, seems a bit over the top just to get a remote though, I must say! I'm only doing landscapes and the likes so I don't need to be hidden away from wild life or the sorts!

It may be, but it also depends on what you're doing with it. It's invaluable for astrophotography and I've successfully used it for stalking birds feeding but it may be a bit over the top for other uses or even as a simple remote. That said, the Canon intervalometer retails for $130 and that's a fixed cable length, very specific use item. It's always nice to have alternatives. ;)
