How does this work? It keeps saying something about an incorrect format or something... Never done this RAW stuff til tonight and am having some issues lol.

Edit: Nevermind... looks like tomorrow I will be going to Circuit City to get a card reader.

You CAN transfer from your 350D via the USB port using Canon's software.

What program are you using to open RAW files? CS1 & CS2 can open the RAW files directly off the card. If you're using PS7, then you'll need to use "imagebrowser" or digital photo professional to convert the files into one that can be opened by PS7.

You need a plugin for CS2 to read RAW format in Photoshop.

Well, I do have Canon's software on here, and I was using the USB thing... it'd bring up the program to transfer the images, but wouldnt do the RAW ones.

I also have Photoshop 6, 7, CS, CS2... but have not been able to get the images on my PC to be able to open in Photoshop.

Hmm. sounds like it may be a setting in the software. i'm at work so can't check. mine is at default installation and downloads any new images, regardless of file type that it hasn't previously downloaded, although this can be changed.

Huh? That's news to me, PS CS1 doesn't use a plugin, the RAW converter is built in.

My method is to use a card reader to copy the RAW files to my hard drive then open them with what ever app I choose, usually RSP.

Yea, it's easier to use another app other than the canon one like CS2 or my favorite ACDsee...PM me if you're interested in ACDsee.

Well I just went out and got a card reader... and it's working much faster than that program before... I can just drag and drop stuff now.

So, I am set to go, thanks.

whelp that is THE WAY to go. Transferring from the program with the camera is pretty slow. Sometimes I have to do it when I am at an event and no reader....

Yeah I like it this way a lot. I have the digital media card slots on my laptop and it seems to take everything but CF, so, this card reader that I got today will be my new little friend lol.

Hi, Rosalie. you're really have a go at this RAW thing aren't you? Did you follow the directions to install the ACR 2.4 plugin in the proper directory? As I recall you're using a Mac, so I can't help you there, but the Adobe site should tell you how, or perhaps someone here with a Mac can help you.

I suspect that your initial issue was with the communication mode setting on the camera. It could be handy for you to sort out the issue, if you are ever in a situation when a cardreader isn't handy.
