At this point I highly recommend contacting Adobe support, since multiple posts and suggested action toward a resolution haven't worked.

hey yes im so sorry to be such a pain... im very keen to try and get things into action, but im not having that much luck , am i?:p thanks for all your imput by the way i hope i can get past my 'blone streak' and finally understand. i think i might ask at uni tomrrow maybe they can physically show me..! :confused:

well guys im happy to say that i finally opened a raw image in ps cs succesfully! i am very pleased with myself (and thank you all for not giving up on me)!

Unfortunatly sometimes it works, and then i come back 2 hours later and the error message comes up again saying that ps doesnt not support the format (eventhough its DNG and not CR2). Anyway i will figure that out im sure ....

So now that i have converted my images from CR2 to DNG, do i need to save both copies, or only DNG? will DNG work in all ps and image programs, or would it be wise to save both versions?

At the moment i have so many copies of one image:
CR2
JPEG (as i shot Raw+ jpeg)
converted CR2 = DNG
and an image i have worked on and saved as psd

so that makes 4!
How does everyone else sort their images?
