The Empty School

Kandahar, Afghanistan; Dec 2010.

The 'empty' factor of this shot really is dated. At the time of capture, it was in fact deserted, and very run down. Thankfully my photo has become more of a moment in history rather than a current event.

Today this school is active, fully staffed and equipped and provides education to dozens of local kids.

This is a vertical stitch of 2, 3-shot HDRs from my 5D mkII and 17-40 f4L. Editing done via photoshop, Nik HDR, and Nik Silver Efx.

It always was pretty calm early in the morning, especially in winter when the sun hadn't warmed things up yet.
