The profile to select, and the settings to use in the print driver will depend on BOTH the printer (and even oem or other ink) AND the particular paper you are printing to. For most of Canon's consumer level printers it is not possible to add additional papers to the profiles that came with the print driver, so in that case you are limited to the types of paper the printer knows about. For non Canon papers in this circumstance you will have to rely on the paper manufacturer to suggest a suitable paper type to select along with the other settings in the print driver. To soft proof, and use LR to colour manage while you are printing you will need to download the correct icc profile to match both your printer/ink combination and the papper. You may find that only oem ink is supported by the profile.
Once you know the correct icc profile for the combination that you are using you select it from the list in LR both when soft proofing in the Devlope module and when printing in the print module. Not all avilable icc profiles are shown by default, as there are usually a lot of them, so you may have to select other to find the one you need in LR even after you have installed the icc profile on the operating system.
This is one of the reasons I stick with oem inks in my Pixma MG5150.
