I have a small issue with the image upload function - its started rejecting images over 800x800.

Normally I dont like to be responsible for destroying a post because of a massive image - but Im finding its extremely limiting for me - due to the fact I post panoramic shots, which, at only 800pix long would be about 4 or 5 pix high.

Ok, so maybe thats a slight exaduration, but you get the point. Panoramic shots need lots longer than 800px to get a good idea of the shot.

Heres my latest effort : https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=131426

which would be much better off being attached to my post instead of hosted on my own (unreliable and slow) hosting getup.

Thanks for listening,

Matt

Here is a suggestion.

Make a small "thumbnail" size to attach here. Then host the full size on pbase or similar hosting service and link to it. Other do it this way with panos.

If it's allready hosted elsewhere I don't se the problem?

The "attachment" function is NOT intended to be used as an alternative to hosting your own images.

Its not already hosted elsewhere, I had to open my FTP program and upload it.

Attachments are easier to manage, and they are better for the board in the long run as it ensure images stay around.

True, however panos are best hosted elsewhere because of the size restriction. Attach a small version here and host the full version elsewhere.
