Are they any good? I mean the f/1.4 30mm if anyone has used them for concerts in venues with low light

Also, what is this DC HSM and DG HSM? I assume that HSM stands for HyperSonic Motor as in how it focuses

DC and DG states to which format its designed, FF or crop
I think DC is FF and DG is cropped but it might be the other way around
As for the 30mm I would think that you'd rather use ur 50mm on a 5d2 then a 30mm (equivalent of 48mm FF) on ur 50d
Are you planning on buying the S30mm or do u already have it? if u mean to buy it I would think it'll be better to buy a lens that works on FF as the S30mm does not....

When using the 50mm, I tend to get a lot of lens glare, while it maybe good in some situation, I don't want it in shots where there is I'm under pressure to get a certain amount of shots per gig

Never owned the 50 1.8 so I have no experience with it,
I just meant that the 5d2 will be a better choice in low light but I see your problem
So I understand that you do own the 30mm...? all I can say is that I never had problems with my sigma's in regards to flare or low light focusing but then again didn't have the 30mm
Sorry I'm probably not much help :)

Just out curiosity why did you decide to get the sigma 30mm?
Why not upgrade your 50mm to the 1.4? and then you get a to use on both bodies

what I meant was that a 30mm on crop is 48mm and a 50mm on FF is obviously 50mm so it's really close
another thing will be that you could the 50mm on both bodies but you cant use the 30mm on a FF body

From last night. Shot with the S35. Really enjoy using it for events and indoor concerts.
