Got to visit two local NWRs yesterday. Weather was beautiful, the outdoors is always terrific, and there were a couple of birds around to photograph.

A Northern Harrier was circling the field and I was hoping he would come around in front of Mt. Hood for me. He did (if a bit far out for my 400mm). Fun to watch them hunt.

And one of my favorite birds (they are big and easy targets) a Great Blue Heron.

The harrier shot is a real winner, Dave; it so well shows the bird in its beautiful environment. Well done.

Thanks for the great comments. I do really like the way the Harrier turned out. I find them difficult because they are generally so close to the ground they are hidden in the surrounding trees and brush.
