Means if its fine we will go if raining we stay at home. That area can change in an hour. Unless you want to get very wet.

Very true words, John. Thank you.

Tony: I've decided I need to relax, stick my camera down, (after 5000 shots in the weekend), and spend some quality time with Kirst.

Waterfalls will always be there, but need to make sure I put in the best effort for my more important half. :)

Sound like a married man :)

Forcast is for widespread rain - not exactly the best photo weather.
Still, just as well Tony's sold his 550's as my new monitor arrived on my desk today. yay! :D

nice toy, what's the make and model of the monitor? I am looking at replacing the LCD that I am currently using.

do you find it easer to use than the CRT ?

Well on the subject of toys, my latest arrived today, a brand new Dell PowerEdge Server, hmmm dual core 2.8Ghz P4 (it replaces a dodgy Celeron 2.4), needs a bump in the memory department, the deal I got only came with 256MB, will attach it to my 1TB RAID array. I have my own wee datacenter now :D Nice piece of kit, quite quiet, so would make a good workstation with a decent video card (it has a 16x PCIexpress slot).

Nice new toys Pete and Duncan, you will both need some kind of Managed Data Back Up soon im sure? :D

Im about to build my parents a new PC, just have to wait for my father to make up his mind on what spec, he wants something Vista ready, and dual core, and cheap. Its the 3rd requirement Im slowing making him realise won't happen.

So long and thanks for all the flash

Duncan, that new LCD makes a huge diff -- wow! Although I'm tempted to buy cheap LCDs the saying "you pay peanuts, you get monkeys" keeps popping up in my head. I should aim for an HP or Dell or something that will have some form of superior technology behind them...

Pete, amazing toys... I only understand the half of it but from the little knowledge I have it looks like you have awesome computing power at your finger tips...

Warren, as always nice and sharp capture. Amazing what the right tools for the job can do eh?

John;)

Dell have a sweet online deal on a 20" Wide screen at the moment - 1680x1050, 800:1 Contrast ratio, 16ms response (OK no good for FPS games) all for $749 incGST & delivery! They do a basic 17" 1280x1024 for $450 inc everything too.

Thanks Pete! Not that I'm buying anything really soon (unless the screen conks out on me. . .:D ) I'm just keeping tabs on whats good and not...

With regard to Dell -- I've had a few negative experiences with them -- 3 of them in the last 3 years... and found out the hard way that there is no such thing as real customer service for laptops. I gave up in the end and asked my previous controller to ban Dell from future purchases. They are now sticking with Compaq/HP. But to be fair also, their desktops are a joy to use.
