Change of subjects:
Yesterday I went to a brilliant Nature photography display. It was an international competition "Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2006".
WOW! Fantastic photographs.
What was nice was all the photos listed camera, lens used. And settings.
Loads of very expensive gear. 300mm f2.8 400 mmF4 etc. A lot of photos where taken also with the 2x converter which surprised me.

let me guess: it was the BBC wildlife photog. of th yr - ive been following that site for the past 5 years, collected a copy of every single photo on there cos they are so amazing. some of them are taken by TINY tots too - and are of stunning subjects like wild leopards etc. they also had some really groundbreaking web design ideas a few years ago (the old sites have not been archived however, only the pics. one of them was like an art gallery room, and one was like a movie projector slideshow seen from a side angle, really great concept)

Sorry people, off topic a little bit here...;)

Wazza, hey just looked at some of your D1NZ photos, they are so sharp and u've done a great job rotating the image to get THAT angle!! They are all very nice!

Recently I've been trying out som panning shots on cars too.. but found it hard to nail the whole car, i mean from the nose to the tail are all SHARP... mine often seems just got the nose, the body or the tail... any tips on this perhaps?? ;)

Should i shoot with Tv or M?? And with all '9point focus active' mode, AIservo and Mode2 on my 70-200 2.8 should be the correct start?

Alrite, I m starting to get confused... need your help...

Tv mode is good - 2.8 is bad dof to shallow.. need to be around f14 - f16 esp for the 70-200 . shutter speed at say 160 - 250...i find that using the left side focus on the centre of the car gives you room for the car to move into (on a car moving from your left)..if the car is moving from your right then focus on the right.
you can also set this in manual mode.

not to be petty but in the interests of accuracy:

"you dont win friends with sal-ad! you dont win friends with sal-ad!"

but yes, well played
