Its a 9.9 as far as reviews goes. I would get one but its a sports lens but you need a 1D to get the most out of it.

I have "money is no object" when I want somthing. But I have to be able to justify it.
My 5D is worth every cent I paid for it. So are my "L" lens and bigma

1d m3 on the books as well. - but that may have to wait

[QUOTE=theflyingkiwi;2931684]so ya really going to go out and buy one, wow that a lot of $$$ for a lens. oh well your $$$[QUOTE]

yep but i have been looking at my super 14 shots and i need more range at 2.8 - and the motorsport shots will benefit.

Gouba wrote in post #2931688 (external link)
thats alot of coin for some glass! well worth it tho :P

i wish my pockets were that deep

my are not that deep either. but i have some shoots coming up that will cover its costs.

weka2000 wrote in post #2931690 (external link)
Look at it this way you will loose more money on your camera body than you ever will on that lens. Glam maybe able to do it cheaper.
Take a look at Wazzas 120-300 F2.8 Sigma the prices went up.
You never sell good glass. Ive sold 1 "L" and thats was only to upgrade to a F2.8

only buying good quality glass. cant be 4rsed fecking around.
and yes i have been bitten...

I think theyr'e doing a TV shoot up there - I saw them setting up at lunchtime today.. film crew and trucks and the like :)

My sister lives on a 600 acre farm that is hired out for filming.. Zena Warrior Princess... just recently they were shooting the new Power ranges flick there. I think they are back up to do the special effects and pyrotechnics this week.. wonder if I could escape work early.. wait, Im a rep.. I can! :)

Sorry people, off topic a little bit here...;)

Wazza, hey just looked at some of your D1NZ photos, they are so sharp and u've done a great job rotating the image to get THAT angle!! They are all very nice!

Recently I've been trying out som panning shots on cars too.. but found it hard to nail the whole car, i mean from the nose to the tail are all SHARP... mine often seems just got the nose, the body or the tail... any tips on this perhaps?? ;)

Should i shoot with Tv or M?? And with all '9point focus active' mode, AIservo and Mode2 on my 70-200 2.8 should be the correct start?

Alrite, I m starting to get confused... need your help...

Hi,

I'm using AI Servo, usually manual or TV mode, and selecting between 1/125 and 1/320th... I get more keepers at 320th, but obviously not as much motion. When the lens is that heavy, and shooting handheld, it gets a bit tough.

Strage I use my eyes not canons word when I edit my photos despite what the manual says :) I loose auto focus at 1000mm. No red dot. 500mm F5.6 + 2xTC = 1000mm @F11 even a 1D wont auto focus after F8 Viewfinder all the way. Oh sorry 20/20 vision.

when you say a 1d wont autofocus after f8, are u meaning with the setup you described? or is that a general rule for focusing with longer lenses?

i have found an older moon photo i took while back, and i can't recall the settings i used, but its sharper than the recent one i posted a couple weeks back even though it was handheld!, and i used the same kit 70-300 lens to shoot them both. i know for the second photo i dialed the f-stop all the way up to cut down on available light and reduce the brightness of the moon - should i not have done this? should i have controlled it just with shutter speeds and low iso instead?

im guessing maybe the first pic i took had a lower f-stop and maybe that was why it was sharper? i used autofocus for both...

advice appreciated... (see below for 100% crops of both moons to illustrate my question)

On a happier note, after a windoz update decieded to shat itself on friday Im back up and running again.
It only took me 3 hours to a format, reinstall windoz, reinstall drivers, avast and zonealarm and get back online.
Now I just have to reinstall CS2, RSE, Office etc etc etc etc......

Then I think I will ghost this drive onto another one, and have a permanent clean back up with everything installed to start from should it shat itself again :)

I was wondering how you were getting along, have you ghosted it all yet? Three ours is not too bad, I have got a PC I was dumb enough to say I would look at, spent 10 hours on it now, can't blow it away as I have no licence keys for the software on it, and it is choc full of photos, documents and emails.

As far as computing hygiene goes, its a dish cloth, I often think the AntiVirus vendors are going over the top with their claims as to how many viruses there are out there, now I am not so sure they are over the top, if it is in the wild, this PC had it!

Mental note to self: Don't fix other peoples PC's.

Other peoples PCs? I can't even be bothered with my own PC! I put Vista, Office 2007, Photoshop, and antivirus on it, I dunno.....maybe 2-3 weeks ago. I just can't be bothered installing any other software, or fiddling with drivers to make everything work. If I can't do it for me, I sure won't be touching anyone elses PC.

Those files aren't public except for the forum.

They've been seen and sold enough anyway, that one large photo was sold for $100, and is used on a poster.

Thus the reason to look at a 300mm F2.8 1.4 tc = 420@ F4 2.0xtc =600mm F5.6.. Only $7500 at Auckland Camera

Wounder how the Sigma 300 2.8 would stack up on the 5D.
