Tv mode is good - 2.8 is bad dof to shallow.. need to be around f14 - f16 esp for the 70-200 . shutter speed at say 160 - 250...i find that using the left side focus on the centre of the car gives you room for the car to move into (on a car moving from your left)..if the car is moving from your right then focus on the right.
you can also set this in manual mode.

Thanks aye! I will surely try the left/right focus of the car u suggested next time down. :)
Oh and... 2.8 is my lens, i am using f10-12 at 1/125. ;) Will try higher next time too. thanks again!

Hi,

I'm using AI Servo, usually manual or TV mode, and selecting between 1/125 and 1/320th... I get more keepers at 320th, but obviously not as much motion. When the lens is that heavy, and shooting handheld, it gets a bit tough.

Thanks Wazza, that was my problem i think, coz i was shooting at 1/125 all day, although i got the motion, but as u said less keepers... So i will try the 1/320 and see if i can nail more 'posters'!!

And BIG THANKS showing us the high res pics!! They are so damn sharp!!! Love them! Will print it out and put on the wall right now! :D

Yehaa, its on my wall now!
Thanks again Wazza!

Are you trying to turn this into a photography discussion or something??

Nice pictures. How did you get the water on the flowers? A fine mister?

thanks, I thought it might pay to talk about photography at some point :)

topic covered for the day, back to normal programing

as for the water I went to the garden shop and got a small spray bottle that I can full up with water.

It's creates a nice fine spray, to get the drops falling I keep spraying until to much water and they start running off :)

as for creating the black background, shooting the flash on the side works well, and also making sure that it's a couple of meters away, decrease the power of the flash and bingo :)

all in a days work.

BTW my work table is my car

Parallel advertised an auction as being $1 reserve both in the title of the ad & in the body of the ad, me being the winner (i.e. last bidder before closing) thinks I've got a reasonable case to get their hands smacked for not honouring that price - they claim "human error" but I think they are just being misleading. They had questions about the reserve more than 48 hours before closing and they chose to ignore them.
Then they have the silliness to offer me the product at $54 above the reserve.
I think the fair trading act & the commerce commission are there for exactly that sort of misleading advertising...

Good gawd. They don't have a single leg to stand on with that one. Are you going to take it further? or just casually mention the fair trading act in passing.. ?
Would love to hear the outcome on that one.

Luck and all that, though I don't think you need it.

I adore the 2nd image :)

That's an expensive work table. But I guess it's protable!!

I have one of those bottles, Mines from Gardena. I mostly use it to spray on naked models :) , though I did use it on a chilli recently

Erm, hate to be negative, but how exactly were they being misleading? You click on the link and can see right away that an error has been made, either in the wording or creation of the auction. It's not like they've ripped you off or anything. The best you could hope for is for trademe to withdraw the auction. You didn't win the auction at all, you were simply the highest bidder in an auction which closed before meeting reserve.

A Q for you guys running Vista. Can you view raw images without any other software? I currently use the raw thumbnail viewer from M$ but in XP. How do you view yours? Does Zoombrowser etc work in Vista?

I've read claims that Vista's native image viewer supports raw files, but it doesn't work for CR2 files for sure. We shoot in jpg and raw to make previewing easier.

I can't see where it is clear that it's an error....

To me, if you say something has a $1 reserve, that's just what it means. They had plenty of time to put on a comment, or withdraw the auction, after they were notified by the questions that the reserve was "incorrect". They knew Friday morning, and didn't change it by Saturday evening...

I think they just expected more bidders, and now want to ensure they don't lose any money - tough luck for them, that's how an auction works.

Would you expect them to say "oh don't worry about paying us the extra" if you'd accidentally bid $950 instead of $590? Legally binding, and all that...
