Thank you Warren! :) I've always wanted to capture moving waves in a way like you and Weka have - have seen lots of pictures, but am waiting to find the right spot with rocks etc. I havent found anywhere locally that takes my eye.

I'm well aware of all the extras that make up a shot such as composition and that is something that is in the eye of the beholder - you could have 5 people take photos of the exact same thing and each one will see it differently from a different angle. The composition of Warren's photo was of no interest to me...

I also seriously doubt you would get the long shutter speed required with "Auto".. In fact I'm sure the photo would look completely different.

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.

 I agree Warren, not really my intention to do this type of photography, esp. after a couple of beers but the noise drew me outside to have a look. One of my first shots with the 30d, its a bit different to the 350:grin:

Yep.
Also using an ND or a polarizing filter can help to increase the shutter time.

Good idea, we should plan that soon, just not this week. I can pick you up considering you live within a 1km radius of my place ;)

Perhaps we could have a "girls only" :p

I have a polarizing filter in the mail as we speak :) Will have to hunt me some scenes over the weekend to try it out :)

There's quite a few females/partners around. :p

Will it involve getting nails done? And what if they break? :o

Forgot to mention, my shots WOULDN'T have been possible without using a ND grad filter - Tony also used one. :)

Time for another question.... Tell me about these ND grad filters.... I can research what affect they have, but what lens do you most commonly use one on? Or do you have several?

I only use them on my wide angles,
Sigma 10-20
Canon 17-40L
Both of them have a 77mm filter thread. So I only need one of the Cokin adapter screw rings, attached to the Cokin filter holder. I just have ND 4 straight filter, and a ND 8 graduated. Very easy to use, and highly recommended for sunsets.

Also have a screw on 77mm CPL which is separate to the Cokin system

Seen as every one is posting pics, figured I'd join the revolution. From today.

Nice shot Aaron.
Was the lighing brighter on the bag on purpose?
If you lowered your shutter speed some more you could get more brightness from the flame.
I would love some portable lights.
Nice seeing them in use.

Please do more!

I like where you're heading with these, although they may look a tad too staged?
The building you've found is wicked though
