Normally yeah, but depends on the 'pool' of users you are lumped with.

Sorry to leave you hanging, but it's a personal goal that I am keeping to myself.

Suffice to say I intend to be photographing full time within a few years.

I think many of us on this forum would be capable of going fulltime (judging by what I've seen - and this includes those who don't think that their work is up to it either ;) - a wink for someone who will know what I am talking about)

I am already on the way towards a fulltime deal.

I'll stick to my first target lense - the 300 2.8 - but thanks for the offer :)

Cliff

I'm not out to compete with anyone for anything. I have no desire to be 'better' than anyone else as far as photography goes. I saw some point and shoot shots the other day that put anything I have ever shot to shame. Like they say, cameras don't take shots, people do. Capturing those 'moments' is always the hardest thing to do.

I just want to live a particular life - with a particular lifestyle. That's what I'm aiming for.

I'll get there or die trying.

Cliff

Cliff, I think you will find that there are only a small amount of people around here that are trying to compete with others. there are some that need to learn to develop there own style first.

myself I need to learn to be out with my photography.

good luck in trying to get to where you wont to be. I wish I knew.

Competition is healthy helps you excel
I have no problem been competitive in fact I have never kept it hidden that I want to wip wazzas butt with landscapes.
He has taught me more than any one else and his work has inspired me to push myself harder and further to get the "WOW" shot

As Tim said it is his composition and thats what I will work on.

But I have no intention to be wazza nor copy his work because I have my own style....what it is blowed if I know it just "Weka Style"

You want to excel hang out with people who will help you. The old saying

"if you want to fly with eagles dont grovel with turkeys"

Oh if anyone want to take offence at that to bad. It wasnt intended to be directed at anyone

If you want to get to the top of your game, it makes sense to surround yourself with those who are at the top of theirs.

I joined this forum to learn. I will never stop learning. If guys the likes of Wazza, Weka etc are keen to help, then I'll soak it up like a sponge unashamedly.

What I think gets thrown out of perspective here occassionally is that photography, like any art form, is very subjective. Some will critique shots simply because the shots don't fit their 'I like it like this' formula.

Often the photos are fine and could probably sell in most places selling landscape posters etc. Landscape composition is a perfect example "Oh the rock should have been a fraction to the left" etc etc. Frankly, that's only someone's opinion. Take it all with a grain of salt.

Like anyone else, I have taken thousands of shots that suck. Each one teaching me something along the way.

Your work is your work - what other people think of you is none of your business. If your work doesn't sell, you'll either give up or become a better photographer. Choice is yours.

I figured that out a while ago, I use to post pictures with the idea of getting the ok from others that what I had taken was good. Then one day I just figured that I know what I wont my photos to be. no one else. Now when I post I just post because I wont to share. If people don't like it then back luck on them.
