I figured that out a while ago, I use to post pictures with the idea of getting the ok from others that what I had taken was good. Then one day I just figured that I know what I wont my photos to be. no one else.

That's exactly why I photograph things. It's not for others, it's for me.

If your 'formula' doesn't work from a sales perspective, then you have to adjust.

I have a bunch of shots hanging on the wall here that I'd consider totally unremarkable, but the recipients were thrilled to bits with them when they got them.

The trick is to make money doing what you love doing, not what others expect you to be doing.

Screw what everyone else thinks. It is what "we" think.
I still think I could be MUCH better

Mind you when it comes to money it is what the client thinks. If they are happy they will pay

Yeah, I agree with you. On the other hand a bit of praise is good for the Ego every now and then ;)

Will it involve getting nails done? And what if they break? :o

thats ok warren - usually, my nails only break if the guy's head is especially hard: sometimes, even the hammer breaks *sweet tone of voice*

Any way Sigma is a good brand that often fills the canon focal length holes.
I have owned the 10-20, 24-70, 50-500 and they are all great esp on 1.6 crop

did you sell your bigma on TM yet? still tryin to figure a way to magic up the cash

Tony, am I right in thinking you owned a 30D? If so, I am interested in your (and any one else's) opinion: I am thinking of buying the 30D body to go with the 20D so my wife Joanne and I don't need to keep sharing cameras. 5D is a different beastie and we are not considering that option. Keen to hear!
Edit: Does it take the same battery as 20D?

dont forget there a rumoured 40D replacement for the 30D...

Here's a few shots I took in March at Mission Bay (Auckland Waterfront).

Neither of them are great from a photographic outlook, but I thought they were fun. One day I'll go back and make a good job of it....they are what they are.

Cliff

interesting water lilies...

klippe wrote in post #3060377 (external link)
I'm not out to compete with anyone for anything. I have no desire to be 'better' than anyone else as far as photography goes. I saw some point and shoot shots the other day that put anything I have ever shot to shame. Like they say, cameras don't take shots, people do. Capturing those 'moments' is always the hardest thing to do.

I just want to live a particular life - with a particular lifestyle. That's what I'm aiming for.

I'll get there or die trying.

Cliff

yeah im with you buddy

um...both id say - just like in the old fashioned darkroom people were congratulated on being able to get different looking prints out of the same negative

just got to keep it artistic - because i think ARTIST is the key word whether we cant keep our cursor off the clone tool, or dont even own photoshop on principle
