Went to see Glam on Saturday (wife made me leave CC at home) and walked out with a 24-105L (only borrowed) had a play with a 5d with 24-105 and a 10-22 all very nice to play with and want even more, had a play with some canon L with IS binoculars they were nice it is amazing how steady it is with the IS on but at $2600 I don’t think I will get a pair. Have to head back up to see Glam now to drop the lens back off to him I guess I have to save up a little more to get the 24-105 but it was amazing how much sharper it was over the 24-70 2.8 sigma

Mark
Camera's :
Canon 5D, Canon 50D, Canon 430EX + 580 Flash
Lenses : Canon 24-105 F4, Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS, Sigma 50-500

Sorry dont buy that it was sharper than the sigma. I have owned both and all I can say is you have a soft Sigma. It is as sharp as the Canon 24-70 F2.8
The ONLY reason I sold the sigma was 82mm and not weather sealed.

here's one for the IT folks: I have a friend that has a laptop that has died (motherboard gone west) and wants me to build them a desktop system. Typical use would be word processing, internet stuff, and their son does a bit of games (nothing too serious)
The laptop had a COA for XP so hoping just to transfer the license.

Budget is $1000 and would like as a minimum:
19" LCD monitor
250Gb HDD
1Gb RAM
DVD writer
Minitower sized case
CPU - no exact requirements, just best value really.

has anyone got any serious reccomendations? this should be a do-able project right?

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Mark, don't go around doing that.. I might want to trade in my 24-70 for a 24-105! There are times when the 105 end will indeed come in handy and save me from having to change lenses all the time.

Hmmm, I wonder how much I can sell my 24-70?

John;)

Believe... Work hard... and it will happen!
