Chris, how strict was the media accreditation process for the A1 GP last year?

As strict as WRC, only worse. MUST be working full time as a pro for a magazine, which you are.. And a letter from the editors asking for a pass. This must be done months in advance, ie, probably within a month or two.

I'll have 4-5 clients this year who are driving in Tier 1 events (classes which will be at the A1 GP), wondering if MNZ can/will allow those in that situation to be there at a media level? I'll give it a go. Of course I do understand that MNZ may not have a say in the matter too.

Chris, you got accreditation last year didn't you? Am I right in understanding that you were not working for any magazines etc when you got your pass approved?

Cliff sorry we stuffed up last night. Not one of our best organised evenings.
I was looking at the weather today and it was sunny. Come home and now it looks like rain again

nope - A1 will take applications for season now - and individual races two months before the race.

tier 1 will get you access to the track however you don't get access to A1 - you cant even be on the circuit. and they get strict with it.

i was offered a pass 5 days before the race - no flights or acc availble without paying heaps. :(

I am going to apply again - any editors out there 'hello i am here' :D
but as wazza said you need editors letters and support.

I will also be going to F1 Aussie (no media) just to watch and be a snapper. I have put application in for season pass for NZ T1 events.

but who knows if i will get one.

I used to work for Fonterra. In fact I did apply for a job at the AP&C out at Te Rapa but didn't get it.

Of course Fonterra is the company that sold me off to EDS. That's all past history now.

So where do you work at Fonterra, I am guessing Edgecumbe site but with so many little companies that Fonterra owns it's hard to know.

If my memory is correct I don't think that Rabsoft works on the Fonterra account.

Seems like AP&C get to do quite a few nifty projects... Yeah, I'm a process manager at the Edgecumbe site.

Damn, I've already got those exact two lenses. And I'll add another vote in favour of the 17-55 2.8 IS as being a shizzle m-nizzle lens on a crop.

Thats the great thing about our group. We have so many intrests. The only thing I have against motor sport is the noise. Ive seen you guys put out some great photos.

I have never been a car type person. Now those sexy creatures that they use to promote cars and motor sport on the other hand

Not quite sure how they expect those of us with clients to function then. Personally I couldn't give a rats ar5e about the A1 cars. Just need to keep the clients happy.

Yes, I remember you telling me that at the BBQ at Moppies. I figure if you made it there without magazine backing etc? Is that the case?

Have been to the Aussie GP last four years in a row. Great event, and I love the idea that I can go and get my hotdogs while the Aussie V8s are on. Hehe.

I'd expect that if you had accreditation from last year that you should be able to get it this year.

Myself, I have arranged for four letters from clients to boost my application. Hopefully I'll get what's needed. Had accreditation last year.

I'll be pretty pissed if they don't give me it this year. I can provide several issues of Speedsport etc that I have had photos in from last season (and also one article I wrote) - so I expect to be accredited. I will cause a real stir if not......

I was recently (informally) asked to write for the NZ Porsche championship (not GT3) but want to concentrate on driving at Tier 2 and photographing at Tier 1 events - so there may be an opportunity there (to write/shoot etc) if you're interested. They may have sussed it out already however. I was asked about a month ago.
