30% of your power bill is hot water.
Do you hotwash all your clothes, Tim? Cold power is, dear.
$300/month is horrendous.

Cold wash mostly. The bill is actually $400 but I took off the costs of heating light and PC for my office, since it's not typical of a residential power bill. Yeah cutting back on the hot water by getting rid of the 2nd head, but i'd rather be warm and spend the extra $50 myself. My young flatmate kinda disagrees, but since it's my house if she doesn't like it she can leave.

Well, PCs use crap all power. A light bulb constantly being turned on and off is worse.
I'd look into what you are using to heat your home (oil column heaters and fan heaters, electric blankets = $'s) and shower time. Seriously - more than 15 mins and they are up to more than cleaning themselves...
The $260/month power bill we got was about $100 more than an average 3bedroom home with high vaulted ceilings up to the master room (soon to be mine, after 6 years...) should use
And remember, I don't dry clothes on a line.

Unlucky or a blessing in disguise ;)(but the flower is ICQ..)

yes the flower is ICQ . (wavy lines appear)

back in my uni days - myself and my wonderful flatmate Joby - would have a giggle on ICQ. I came home one day to find Joe laughing saying have fun mate..

hmm i thought.

the following day this girl (older than me ((alot older)) ) contacted me asking where we were going.

hmm i thought - Joe you bastard !! what have you done.

But hey her pic look ok. So i thought what the hell - a movie and a beer would be ok. I must point out there was only two weeks of the year left i was going to Spain the day after Uni finished. (so long term relationship was not in my plans)

She picked me up - Movie was crap. Beer was good and the conversation was good, I got invited back to hers (for coffee ;)).

I spent the next two weeks there. LOL

went to Spain ended up in hospital after a nasty fall. ( i was sober) we talked on the phone and she asked what my plans were. I had none - parents for the sumer as i just spent all my cash on medical bills.

She offered for me to move in. She picked me up at the airport and i moved in. The rest as they say is history.

so thanks Joe and ICQ.

(wavy lines appear and we are back to present day)

A PC with 3 hard drives and a 19" screen on for up to 16 hours a day uses a bit... i've looked it up. Hot water is probably the big one, with heating bad - just had the place insulated so it should come down a bit.

Hey I'm not sleeping :p

I did get out to Tower Bridge last night, I think the shots were ok.

Will have nil or little internet over the next week. Will likely add my final couple of blogs, of travel, then that's it. It's all rain rain rain from UK ;)

I'm not very good on MSN. Although Kirst is always signed on, but literally away means away. :p
Generally if I'm online, especially now with laptop, I am physically there.. Laptop gets too hot to leave on non-stop.

G'day Pete :)

I'd definately look at the 17-55, but I think I'll just have to focus on actually using the 6 lenses I have before purchasing more. Not much help, am I
Best of luck with the sale, Scott. If I miraculously get out of the hole my flatmates have succeeded in putting me in, then I'll put my hand up.

In that news - I gave them till the 19th to find a place...

Eek, you do?
I only have 4 lens.
4 have gone to you... I'm not really a seller, usually a giver or loaner.. I know one day you'll have the 70-200IS, which will come in handy as a loaner ;)

Good news about the boys. Should have given them the 18th, so Steve can move in comfortably on the 19th. I bet there'll be RX7 parts everywhere.

That you Warren? You realise you're stood on the spot where the David Blaine stunt with him being in a box suspended in the air for a month was?

Cheers, Dave.

Yeh that's me. Tripod comes in handy for somethings.
I knew of the stunt, but didn't know of the location. Was so busy in the area.
I've now caught 8 trains, 4 tube links... Coming home last night, at 10:30pm, was the busiest I've seen. Ironically busier than rush hour.

As far as I'm concerned London's cool for visiting. Everyone I know who lives there hates it. If you want shops and galleries and cool eating and drnking, other cities have that too. It is however the main point of creative industries in the UK though... :S

Make sure you visit the AOP gallery, the Photographers Gallery, National Portrait gallery, Tate Modern and tate Britain and if you want something a bit quirky the Saatchi gallery next to the London Eye seems a bit different. The main hall in Tate Modern is in itself just simply beautiful. National theatre was quite cool too in a retro way.

Cheers, Dave.
