*annoyed face* well i just read my 4th photo assignment which says i have to find a glamour model somewhere and shoot 48 images
ironically this is in the same section as wedding photography, and i AM shooting a wedding in a few weeks, but they stipulate that we will not be requested to submit any wedding photos for marking!
so far this course hasn't really clicked for me (no pun intended i swear) - they seem intent on making me shoot everything i don't like and ignoring stuff that i enjoy and/or plan to make a living from :-\

those are some great photos, chris tony and tong

What course are you doing SS

Uh oh, tonight didn't help take my mind of camera gear at all. The 'hosts' managed to talk me out of the 40D and told me to invest in some glass with the cash first, upgrade the body later. Now I can choose a couple (hopefully) of pieces of glass to purchase instead of the body.

I think in the long run this is the better option. You know what they say, glass before the body - always.

well how about forget the ipod upgrade and use the money for that to get the 40D and glass. ?

Yep, looking at your list of glass it's better to get some good stuff first. even with the 350D you will notice the difference.

as for this glass before the body, who cares. Unless your making money, or plan on making money on your photography then it's not a big deal.

I have not had much time to try out my 40D but I did catch the sunset over Titahi Bay, Mana Is and the Mainland. Lens is a Sigma 50-150 2.8

I cropped the foreground out.

Oh yea I like this too. since I am not much of a landscape photographer not to sure what else to do to make it better but I like it none the less.

SS this may help you as well

www.starnow.co.nz (external link)

I got most of my models from here. Time for CD. In the 6 months I did model photography I photographed 30 models.

The first 5 were the hardest as I wasnt confident. After that it got better. Often the second shoot with same model was better as we knew each other.
The only question I asked the models was what style are you after. FHM type or Fashion.

Only ever used a 70-200 F2.8 lens

There is a heap of money to be made from model portfilos as there is about 4 guys in Auckland that do it.

Remember you click with some models and some you dont.

Fritz I also have a 5000 photo collection of ideas for poses, props etc. Depending on what sort of work your wanting to do I have a few links as well.
The model needs to be prepared. Get them to work out what they want before hand. That way you are both aiming for the same thing.

The 350D is a good camea, that is capable of producing excellent images in the right hands. (I had one for 2.5 years)The main reasons I see for upgrading are ergonomics and controls, better high ISO performance, and higher frame rate if you shoot alot of action. But getting better glass is always a good option. Lenses do not loose value like a body will, and definately help producing better pictures.

i don't see myself going ff for a long time yet, still, who knows - if my future business performance matches projections i will need to buy a lot of gear each year to keep the tax man away LOL

So today I came to understand how hard it is to shoot out door glam when the model doesn't know how to pose, I really need to get better at my directing. Maybe I should practice my self in the mirror, lol. HA

Buy many girly mags, look at how they pose..

For those that are up for a party, this is what I've been organizing for Diablo Bar in Ponsonby.
I went and spent around $1600 of their money on props last weekend. (death walls, gargoyles, Greek Ionic columns, Alters, Backdrops, etc) for the setting.
They are stealing the pew off my deck (Yep - I have a pew, hehe)
The bar will be set out as such..
Lower = Hell
Middle area / Bar = Purgatory
Top = Heaven (with a smoke machine that lets smoke tumble down the stairs..)

I was to be one of two Fallen Angels / devils Advocates. but Little Nicky has fallen ill :(

I'm sure I can cope.. I hope.

For those up to it, be great to see you there :D

Once this one is over - I have another in October..

Hmmm, I may end up with the oldest DSLR here since Mark has sold his 10D, got mine in October 2004, second shipment into the country, even had to go on a wait list

I got my 350 D in Feb. 2005, so you beat me.
Over 50,000 photos on it now.

I had a play with the 40D today. Dribble slobber. They only arrived here yesterday, so NZ is pretty early.
I'll wait, but after my photoshoot on Saturday where I was in an old house & photographed at ISO 400 I'm very disappointed with the graininess of my images.
40D might be the ticked.... So might a quality 2.8 L lens:rolleyes:
