Um - focus on lines today as a subject :)

well since kirst was the only one to give me any decent ideas (sorry John yours don't count, my big toe isn't much of a photographic subject)

anyway here is a couple taken today.

just remember the subject is lines, which is an abstract subject, which doesn't mean there should be a focus of a subject. if there was it wouldn't be abstract. :)

Mark, dis you try #1 from a lower vantage point? You might get better leading lines into the pic...

John;)

i would have to say this mark number 1 is one of the best pictures you have posted on the forum fro a long time.
i find myself following the lines around the picture to see where they go. It is a picture that demands you explore it.

I'm so glad you followed my subject idea, and did exactly as I had hoped.. went for the abstract perspective!
#1 is awesome!
A lower angle, as John has suggested, might be cool, too. But it is perfect as it is :)
#2, also cool :D

It's almost 3 dimensional, too. If that makes sense.
That's what makes it so cool :)

Gee, thanks

I was the kid that rescued animals.. mice from my aunties cats, baby birds that fell out of nests, dead birds that were zapped by power lines...

Um - focus on lines today as a subject :)

Thanks everyone. it goes to show ya that editing is everything. the original photo is rather flat. but yea looking back at number 2 it seems to be too flat. I was trying to get more contrast between the shadows and the titles but it just didn't seem to work out.

I had thought I had take a few shots lower but I didn't. I know I looked at it, but there would have been cars in the background etc and at the time I didn't like it that's why I didn't take any.

oh well that location isn't going anywhere.

17- 55 2.8 usm
50mm 1.4 (or if you have the cash 1.2 L)
85mm 1.8 usm (or 85mm 1.2 L again if you have the cash)

I second the 17-55... I barely take it off the camera - very versatile lens.....
Depends on your price range really Lance.

Well interesting day, 20D and 70-200 almost bought it

Took the family to the Botanic gardens for a run around and some family photos. Whilst extracting our youngest from the tunnel at the potters garden a kid grabbed my 20D with 70-200 f/2.8 attached and ran off with it dragging it along my the lens hood! I quickly took chase and he dropped it on the concrete and ran off

Seems to all be OK, the lens hood took all the damage, a few scratches on it and a big gouge out of the end, found his parents, got their number in case anything is actually broken
