joeseph "smells like turd" More info | Moppie wrote in post #3931757 Prior to that they had been building under license the Austin A series in 1,000cc 1200cc and 1500cc forms, as well a 1.8/2L 4cyl and a 2.4/2.6/2.8 6cly motor from Mercedes. The Austin A series engine dates back to the 50s and even the English stopped using it in the 70s. Oi! enough with the A series knocking already (they do a bit of this on their own accord FlyingPete wrote in post #3933498 Well interesting day, 20D and 70-200 almost bought it ![]() Took the family to the Botanic gardens for a run around and some family photos. Whilst extracting our youngest from the tunnel at the potters garden a kid grabbed my 20D with 70-200 f/2.8 attached and ran off with it dragging it along my the lens hood! I quickly took chase and he dropped it on the concrete and ran off ![]() Seems to all be OK, the lens hood took all the damage, a few scratches on it and a big gouge out of the end, found his parents, got their number in case anything is actually broken ![]() eeek! lance v wrote in post #3933765 would a 24-70 make a good walk around sort of lens as well for say a holiday in south africa?? or newhere for that matter 24-70 f/2.8 on a 1.6 crop body is my everyday lens. on occasion I bolt on the 100-400 (for stuff like at the zoo the other day or airshows etc) or even more occasionally these days I use the 16-35 (usually landscapes ) some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

For South Africa I'd be taking all 3 though. cheers joseph. the more i hear about this lens the more i am swayed towards it.

The 24 was designed for full frame cameras... I would suggest you try one and see before committing. Canon EOS
