He would have to loan me his 120-300 first :) after all he did say he would loan it out once it had a knock.

The sigmaonster would be a better investment than a car for the same price.
I know what would hold its value much better.

yea well that's ture. it's funny I offen tell people about buying the ideal lens and how much it would cost. I could spend the same amount on a car and lose more money. However people can't imagine spending that much on a lens and yet they can spend that much if not more a car.

anyway I thought you wanted to check out my lens ?

Due to popular demand, here's more detail on the canon batterypack I made to drive my portable hard drive:-

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

But the 120-300 is sharper, just the 300-800 has more range! Excellent for surfing pics, or bird pics, or African safari!

You know friend of my things that I should go on one of those things. It would be interesting however going to Africa seems like a big risk. What if my gear gets stolen :(

However I see that OZ has got things like that, and I have always wondered what they would be like

Wish me luck Warren, I'm going to shoot the inline hockey tournament tommorrow. I've decided to shoot just the juniors (first 7 games) and the finals on Sunday, should be more than enough to wear me out. Will use my Efs 17-55 f/2.8 and hope for the best. Not sure if they allow flash but now have the 580ex so might try that as well.

Ahh, should have organised that you borrow my 85 1.8... Will give a bit more reach.. I know from experience, 85-200mm works well... 85mm @ F2.8 Manual, ISO 800 / 1600, RAW 1/320th, and then increase exposure in processing

Yep I'll take both lenses,
when i did a trial shoot a few weeks ago, found I also needed a bit wider than 70mm for some shots. the 17-55 f2.8 was almost as good as the 70 - 200 in this light!
Shot in iso 1600, 1/250, jpeg (still getting used to processing raw) also havn't got enough mem cards

Red lights suck

Anyone else with a 5D have "red operation light showing on frames" problem as part of a long exposure? (10mins or longer)
