There's only one other person here with a 5D..

Just out of curiousty, where did you find out 5D was superior to the 1DSMkII in quality?

I always bagged the 5D thinking it was just a full frame of the 20D with a few extra bits, and only worth $3500-4000
I do know the larger sensor at 35mm compared to 22mm is a big price difference.

Ouch, well good luck and have fun.. Are you taking a printer also?

No, decided trying to take the pics and print them onsite was just to much hassle, also no time for pp.
Will have to set up a web page and let them order from that. will have to look at the most economic way to show them online.

Will post some pics on sunday.

And for my 1000th post I would like to present my first go at star trails.

Ta Da!

It's the Southern Cross and I haven't played with the colours at all.

Long exposure noise is common, you can use that CF to remove it. I can't see anything red in that picture. Nice picture!

Thanks Tim, but it wasn't the noise that I was talking about, look to the right hand side of the frame and you will see a big red blob :(

Well I had done some testing myself and this had seemed to be the case, however, I did question the validity of my results as my 'tests' were not conducted in a controlled studio. But, then I began to read on various forums that 5D had the newer model sensor and was producing higher quality, lower noise pixels when compared to the 1D. Then I dowloaded the maximum size files from this page http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/back-testing.shtml (external link) and did a comparison. The difference was clear (excuse the pun). Check it out for your self.

Thanks for that.

Yeah I forgot the 1DSMkII was released in September 2004... That's why the next 22 megapixel 1DSIII is due in September.

I was reading the rumours.. Something about 4fps at 22megapixel FF
8fps at 1.3 crop 16megapixel
and 8/11 megapixel 1.6x crop at 10+fps...

Sounds like the Ni oink ;)

Got to remember, that with the tape attached, it doesn't look like it would cost much. hence it wont be stolen.

However Wazza has shown that despite how much we can spend on a lens one can sometimes do dumb things with it, like break it :)

I used a remote shutter ($25), bulb mode and went inside for a coffee.
Also shot a 10min hot-pixel frame and it got rid of almost all of the hot-pixies on the shot.

you know it must be me, I can see what you mean. I do think it might pay to post this question in the camera section of this fourm. Alot more people have the 5d there than here.
