I would be more worried about John who knows which side of K rd has the blow up dolls

 At least those ones are interactive   Again, just don't bite too hard:lol:

Reminds me of an old joke about 2 old geezers who went to a brothel. The madame decided that it would be a waste to send her girls in and gave them blow up dolls. After the jaunt, the 2 old buggers had a chat.

Old Man #1: I think my partner was dead. She just laid back, said nothing and made me do all the work!

Old Man #2: Hell, mine was a witch! She flew right out of the room when I bit hard on her neck!

When did Duncan get a 17-40 ??? Do you mean 16-35. Well at least now the cheque has arrived and you lens will be here. All you need is time to use them.
I sold my 24-70 after it got made redundant by the 17-40.

Oops, yes the 16-35. I was shooting more toward the 17-18 side... and not even reaching 35mm.

Who knows, my 24-70 might be next on the chopping block if I find that I am using my 17-40 more often than not. In fact, I am thinking of selling my 50mm since it is not getting any use... I'll give it more thought... and probably get a 100mm macro lens since I love doing macro stuff.

Rant time...

Had a chat with iHug & Orcon people, as well as Xtra. From the little that I told them about my problem with Telecom/Xtra they feel that I am held hostage to the exchange rather than the ISP. Their lines go through the same exchange and therefore an increase in line speed cannot be guaranteed! Bugger.

Xtra/Telecom mention that the exchange is being upgraded within the year so there is light at the end of the tunnel. Till then, I guess that I will have to deal with 409kbps.. which is still better than dial-up speed:cry:

End of rant...

John, when I get back to work next week I'll reposses my spare router & you can borrow it to see what the speed is with a "real" router... ;)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Thanks Duncan! From my chat with Mark/rabsoft this afternoon, he mentions something about a "high pass filter" or splitter. Do you know anything about this? The Telecom person I spoke with this afternoon was hopeless!

That is what happens when you have a monopoly of sorts -- disastrous infrastructure, high costs, poor service.

Yep and we can do a thing about it. I think telecom should be forsed to upgrade the lines from the house back to the exchange. My copper has been in the ground since 1970.

No one else from the GKPE group seemed to post any drifting shots..

So here's Round 5 of 6.. Round 6 is on 19th November

http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=224165

I put some online but wasn't happy with how they looked so removed them all. Will get round to redoing them sometime soon.

dg do u live near a hotel, bp garage, mcd's, or a mall. If so yo maybe able to hit up on the telecoms wireless hot spots that these places broadcast.

a wifi card and a directional aerial. an extra account log on. you will get max speed up and down from this is you can login to it. A basic jet stream account cost $29 and this is more than sufficient . Once you use the 1gb cap a warning will appear saying you will be billed at $10 an hour. (ignore this as they cant bill you). and carry on surfing. ;)

great for gaming. and faster than dial up and most broadband plans. (dont do your banking on it thou , not secure from your PC to the router but after that encrypted)

Think its time I got my camera serviced. My shots seem to be getting progresivley worse and worse, I just can't put my finger on the problem. If its not the camera then there might be a 20d w/ 70 - 200 f2.8 up for sale soon.

So Duncan hows the wee one?

More poo than wee today.... [Sorry for that image folks :-)]
He's doing well, put on nearly 1Kg since leaving hospital and playing havoc on the sleep patterns - dunno that going back to work will help, will see if I get away with hiding in a corner for an afternoon nap...
Photo shoot with lights will probably be a couple of weeks away as this weekend I'm busy and next Saturday I'm out with Moppie on the Downs Syndrome walk - hopefully the weekend after?
