OK you techies I have a problem. Santa bought me a Dell 19inch Ultrasharp flat panel monitor. It's lovely. BUT I have a dual boot system and the monitor will not show the boot screen or boot choices. If I press F8 to choose boot options I can't see anything. The screen says 'Cannot display this mode' or something. Any quick ideas. I've got the latest drivers and all. Do I have to have DVi? It's just using AGP at the mo.

No ... that won't make any difference.
Seems to be a problem that the monitor can't display 640 x 480 or something which is used at boot time.
Make sure you have the latese drivers & they are installed. Though I think they will only help when windows has started.

I have a similar problem with my mouse and keyboard, basicly there is no USB working during boot up, so I have to plug in an old PS2 one when i want to change something in bios.

I wonder if you need some kind of basic level driver thats lacking?

So long and thanks for all the flash

It works fine with the CRT but won't show anything with the flat panel. It'll be a PITA having to swap displays every time I want to boot into something else or change BIOS. I'm going to upgrade the graphics card anyway to a DVI one.

Upgrading the graphics card might work.

Yep. It's ridiculously warm.
I was in Austria & at least we had a white christmas there, but this is the forst snow we have hade in Munich all year. & at this time last year I was shoveling metres of snow every morning. Hope we get lots as all ski areas can't operate due to lack of snow.

Look foreward to seeing the pictures.

Of course it's cold... it's meant to be.

Now to organize a model for some snow shots! (Naked of course!)
