I purchased a Prayer Plant yesterday. Not because I actually know anything about plants apart from they like sunlight (some prefer shade) and they think water is rather useful :D... anyway, I purchased the plant simply because I thought the leaves were very nice. Absolutely vibrant luscious greens on the top and a rich deep purple on the underneath.
Of course it would have been rude of me not to see what I could do.

I Came up with these. Normal settings, flash also used as usual.

This first one is almost like some kind of water colour painting but it's the actual patterning on the leaf. This looks like it's a lighter, smaller leaf above a larger darker one but it's actually one single leaf (of about 10 or so on the plant). Love this shot if I do say so myself :)

Those are absolutely gorgeous shots, Ian. You captured the texture, tones and colours splendidly. Great set and the plant was worth every penny! :)

Thanks All :) It was certainly something different and I'm pleased with the results.

As for it's prayers... probably the god of "please make sure you look after me" haha. having just read up on it, they're rather demanding I have to admit :/. I actually thought it could go out in the garden but it's a much happier plant indoors.
