I suspect that dealers are dumping inventory of the 60D because the 70D will be a much larger step forward than usual. It puts the value-conscious in a bind - 60D for $600, or 70D for $1200. The 70D will be 'relevant' for a lot longer, delaying he need for another upgrade. This makes it a better value than it would otherwise appear.

I decided to go with the 60D as the upgrade for my T2i since to me the 70D at $1200 did not make sense to me even with the new features, maybe when the 80D comes out at some point down the line

On a side note, I emailed B&H about the fact that they were offering those free items 10 days after I bought my 60D and I just got an email back that they were shipping out the free items to me, followed by a shipping confirmation email. I must admit I never expected them to do it and I am very impressed with B&H.
