If anyone has a problem with a stuck lens cover, shoot me a message and I'll try to help out. It's very easy to fix. Basically pop off the front ring of the smallest section of the lens unit while it's extended. You'll have access to the cover leafs and the springs. Remove those. Then an internal ring component lifts out. Check for sand, dirt, etc... put everything back and voila. I could have taken photos, but I didn't because I didn't know if it would work. The hardest part is getting the springs back on... having fine tip tweezers is a must.

If it happens again, then I'll take a video or take photos.

So this means I fixed the S95 and bought a used S100 this week to make sure my wife has a camera to bring to Vegas. Now she has two. Woohoo.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

Tried to PM you but can only do this once I have posted 20 times.
I have a Canon s95
Lens shutters have become displaced
You kindly offered to explain how to fix this.
I think that it is going to need me taking the front of the lens assembly off?
Many thanks!
Paul

Oh man... this was more than 3 years ago. I barely remember. I should have taken pictures.

I recall being able to force off the shiny part of the inner barrel. This is the part that has text printed on it around the lens. You don't have to take the lens assembly off or dismantle your camera. Once you get that shiny ring off, you have access to the leaf shutter and springs. I think you can force it off cleanly by twisting and pulling. Maybe a fingernail to help pry.
