Wait till you see some of Scotts (I hope Im not building you up mate) he was useing Tonys 10-22mm, and it was a wide angle sunset.

If anybody is ever suffering from DSLR snobbery, I can suggest a cure. Go out on a photo shoot with Moppie, then come back and compare what you have done with what Moppie posts and think to yourself "how does he get such awesome shots using his little A80 and I have got all this gear and my shots are not as good!"

I didnt have my 10-20mm Someone else had it and I think they like it

I like the wide angle, it was good to be able to capture the whole scene, but I think some of my zoomed in shots have more impact. Depends what you are after I suppose.

My wife asked who was the smart ass who said " we here for a photoshoot"

Ah.....that smart ass would be me.....no wonder she disappeared so quickly!

red sky at night = shepards house on fire. Awesome job guys!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Scott after you left lastnight I put on the macro. They are a bit different to what Im used to, but see some call pics comming up. A tripod is a must.

I agree with Scott's comments re its not what camera you have but how you use it. I guess the same applys for those over priced "L" lenses when all you can afford is Sigma's

Thats quite the compliment Scott :o :o :o
But don't forget Iv been useing basicly the same camera for nearly 6 years, so Iv got pretty good at getting the best out of it :)
And you shots are pretty damn good, and getting better all the time.
That wide angle of the sunset is really good.
You Also got considerably better shots than I did on the first night shoot we did around the One tree hill and Mussem.

Thanks, I know I am improving, and I am enjoying giving it a go!

That wide angle of the sunset is really good.

I like it too, but the not so wide ones have more in your face impact, which is not better, just different. I'll post some more of mine tonight when I have had a chance to sort through them and do a bit of pp.

Thanks Moppie and Weka for coming along, and Weka for your hospitality afterwards. It was an enjoyable night out!

Moppie & Scott -- those were fantastic pictures!!! Looks like it's going to be a few days before we get more of those fantastic sunsets... and hopefully I can get out and about to take some before Autumn/Fall comes.

Today's weather is a shocker -- drenched to the bones just running some errands! But, it's good to be back home!

Thanks for sharing... I do hope to be able to get fantastic pictures like those one of these days ;-)a

John;)

Believe... Work hard... and it will happen!

Especially like the second, Moppie! I'm in Hillsborough and was driving home during that sensational sunset, but no camera on hand....

Dead right. I'll be waiting for the next one. Just have to get involved.
With all this talk of sunsets, I just have to post these recent sunrise shots from our bach at Orapiu, Waiheke Island! (eastern end, facing Ponui Island). Only minor unsharp mask.

Lovely shots, they bring back some memories of staying down the bottom end in Boat every summer for most of my childhood.
