I definitely prefer the second one. There is more contrast, and the colours are more saturated. It's a nice shot, and I don't think is spoiled by her hand being cut off, though you may crop it slightly further in on the left, so it doesn't look like you left her hand out by accident :) (That's a trick you learn, to hide when you crop something out by accident ;))

Thanks goatee :) And yeah, I didnt think to crop on the right. It would make it her left hand cropped out look less like an accident. LOL I'll remember that when I have it printed. ;)

Cute! I really like her expression. Contrast is better in #2. Composition could be better as you mentioned.

Thanks Dave for the reply :) I gave the second one alot of contrast for a different look. Just something about it is neat looking.... to me anyway.

Very cute but....how can you not play with your 580? Man, I start playing with it before I even read the instructions. You must have a lot of patience.

As far as the 580, first you will hate it, then you will get a few good shots and start to like it, then you will hate it again, then you will buy a diffuser. Then you will like it...
Stick with it though. Takes some practice.

Peatoire... thanks so much :)

Bad Iron... I played around with it when I first got it, but then got frustrated with all the settings along with the camera. So I ended up overwhelmed with it all and decided to play around with the camera settings a bit more so I dont throw my hands in the air with frustration. LOL Plus... my little girl is a handfull to say the least and makes it REALLY hard to do anything. She's at that age. It is killing me to not play around with the camera like I want ... but it will all come in time. ;)

Thanks for the comments!
Pamela

Just do this. For indoor flash set the camera to manual, 200 ISO, 5.6 and 125 and the flash at 45 degrees. Let the flash do the rest.

Cute photos, the colors are great. but I have to say I like the first one best. To me it looks a little softer, which I really prefer when doing people. especially children, I think it shows more innocence.

BIGTUFFGUY.... thanks for the feedback!

Thanks Bad Iron... I'll give that a try. I want to take some shots of my sons with their bass and guitar. So I'll give it a go!

stoneylonesome.... thanks so much :) I like the first one too for the softness. But also, the colors for me are pretty cool b/c of how intense they turned out in the 2nd one. But yeah, the softness does have an innocence about it.
