Cheesy shadows

As I looked through my Sunday paper this AM, I was struck by the cheesy shadows around the models that some dufus decided to have added to the http://www.kohls.com/ advertising flyer. They've even added them to products, like the shoes.

Look at the bottom left & bottom right shots here for especially wonderful examples of what not to do in PS.

I wonder how soon we'll start seeing this in the forum, & how long this "avant-garde" trend will last? ; )

Graphic artists have been adding drop shadows to knock out photographs for a long time. Some do it very well, the ones you pointed out are terrible.

I guess it brings another definition to GWC, guy or gal with a computer.

That is beyond bad!

At first I thought that maybe they were just where the image was cut out but looking closer, it's clear that these were added shadows. SO then I'm thinkin', someone was sitting at their workstation putting these together and finally stepped back saying "There.. Perfect"

Blame the Art Director...he/she either initiated it, or signed off prior to publication
