One day i was sitting on the balcony and managed to get this photo of a whale, but was too rushed to get the exposure right. I was hoping that somebody with Lightroom experience could help me brighten it up so it looks better, as I am going to get it printed for my mom. Thanks for any help

I'm not able to save the image in any way to attempt editing. I use manual exposure settings on the copy machine

stsva Cream of the Crop More info | Jul 19, 2013 12:30 | #6 Here's a shot at it; message me your email address if you'd like me to send you a full-resolution JPEG for printing. Increasing the exposure more than a stop also increased the noise, so I got rid of some of that, added some sharpening (the focus was a little soft), fixed the white balance (I was guessing at what the water actually looked like, so tried to keep it pretty neutral), and increased the contrast. I also cropped to give a closer view and put the tail at the "rule of thirds" point in the scene. It's not a perfect image, but I think it would look OK printed. The main issue is that it's kind of subdued without a lot of contrast except for the white water around the tail.
