#1 I like the composition, would try a little more highlight recovery on the left
#2,3 took me almost a minute to find it :) great light.
#4 seems to lack a bit of contrast
#5 great detail, love it
#6 more DOF would be nice...
#7 favorite composition, what happened with the light? looks strange?
#8 good composition and detail, perhaps a bit more contrast and saturation

great set overall

Very nice and interesting selection, Paul. That sure is a well camouflaged moth.

Interesting collection! The spider assassin is certainly unique. :D

edit: is it Spider Assassin, or Assassin Spider?

Wonderful set, especialy the last two spiders. That second to last one reminds me of a lot of fashion shots I see, and I mean that as a compliment. You should post it in the glamour section :-)

Warl0rd- Thanks for the critique, always helpful for considering future shots. #7 had the issue of shooting into the light in order to have the translucent legs backlit. This unfortunately created haze which I did my best to remove by increasing the contrast. I'm not really of the school that searches for maximum dof but I agree I could probably have stopped down a little, though one loses the dreamy bokeh that was my priority.

Ishrani, Moose- Thanks for kind words. And it is Spider assassin you can actually read a relatively in-depth report here: http://pbertner.wordpress.com/spider-assassins-archaeidae/ (external link) .

BasAndrews- Your prize of course is a new 5D mark III, mpe-65 and MT-24 EX. Of course sharing it with all the others that have found it I'm afraid you wind up with just half a diffuser :)

Thanks Lester, Alquimista and Schlagle for the compliments. I'll have to do some editing first to fit that spider into a skirt before posting to glamour...unless I go with nudes....
