fun to see others setups :)

Definitely. :)

Thanks for all the sample photos, Jim. My favorites were actually the early test and setup shots you shared, along with your thought process.

Would you happen to have any photos of your camera as well as your light stand setup? The specific application I'm looking for is when needing to have an on-camera flash working along with the CL trigger (or some alternate trigger if that's what you need to do).

Thanks again!

Here's what I use when I need some on-camera flash + off-camera light. I use a pocketwizard velcroed and rubberbanded to my flash. My flash has been modified to accept a sync port on the foot. www.flashzebra.com (external link) sells the modified foot for Canon flashes. I sometimes don't bother with the bounce card as the pop up card works nearly as well.

These are three of my Cheetah lights. I now have four.

I no longer hang the batteries by the straps, I mount them onto the pole with spring clamps. It works quite well. The yellow tape is so I know what # flash I'm working with. I can glance at a light stand and count the number of stripes on the battery so I know which one is which. It's handy when I want to tweak the power settings of a particular light from across a room.

Jim, I like the A clamp. I've been using a strip of velcro, works fine but the battery flaps around a little.
The A clamp should hold it tight.

I like the tape. That's one of the hardest things to remember, which light is where. :-)

and in keeping with the theme of this post, lest it degrade into something else, I shot the above pic with two CL 180's. One fired into their 50" x 50" soft box, the other fired into the brolly umbrella.

This pic I shot with the 50" x 50" softbox and bare flash.

Jim,
Thanks for the suggestion on the clamps.
Have you tried the FlexTT5s to support H mode and FP-Sync?

Hey David,

The clamps aren't pretty but they work.

No I haven't tried the Flex. I have the cells II transmitter that I can use for high speed sync. I'm in the process of selling my Flex TT5, mini TT1 and AC3 because I simply don't need them.
