Not familiar with Gr mode ?

Gr mode (exclusive to the 600s and newer cameras) allows for five groups instead of three and easy mixing of E-TTL and manual.

Shutter speeds faster than sync speed are supported by both the 622s and the 580 as master. Under <External Speedlite control>, <Flash function settings>, Shutter syncronization>, select the lightning bolt/H symbol. Or, on your 580 master, press the third button, top row, and the H symbol will appear upper left on the flash's LCD.

Lightening bolt H is High Speed Sync.
The YN-622 provides the connection on a control pin to tell the camera that an HSS capable speedlite is in the hot shoe. How that translates to the actual speedlites and/or monolights being fired is a separate question.
