B&H just contacted me. My copy is on the way. Just in time for a trip to DC. I'm psyched.

OK, got my copy yesterday and so far I'm quite impressed. Very sharp. Even sharp across the image at f/1.8! The AF seems mostly accurate. Much better then my Sigma 30mm f/1.4. The weather has been miserable and I've been busy, but here are a couple of quick shots. I was impressed by how closely it focuses and the high magnification factor. Its not a macro lens, but the close up results are pretty impressive. Theses were taken at f/1.8. None them are crops.

OK, just got back from my trip to DC and here are a couple of images from the National Gallery of Art. Both were taken at f/1.8 with no flash. I've only had it for a week, but I am loving this lens.

The Saint-Gaudens memorial to Robert Gould Shaw and the Fifty-Fourth Massachusetts is an 11' x 14' plaster version of the Bronze sculpture in Boston. The room was moderately/low lit with directed lighting on the sculpture. This photo was taken hand held at f/1.8 at around 10-12 feet away, and framed to remove the outer fancy scroll work. I was impressed by the sharpness edge to edge and corner to corner.

This interior fountain was also moderately/low lit with help from natural light streaming through windows. I focused on the top flower in the forefront.

Here is another one taken at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. The first one was taken at f/1.8, the second at f/4. While the f/4 version is sharper and has more detail, especially when viewed at 100%, I think the lens at f/1.8 acquits itself quite well. Shot in raw, I converted them to jpegs in DPP for upload to Flickr. Other than the conversion, there was no post processing.

Taken at f/1.8, no flash

Needed a quality lens and could not decide which one until I saw all the great pictures here. My Sigma will be delivered on Monday...if the snow stays away.

Looking for light in all the right places.
