So as I've been frustrated lately with different camera profiles, I just want one that is accurate. I'm thinking of getting the x-rite color checker and making a custom profile, but I was wondering if anyone has made one or has any to share for the 5DII? I just recently got some untwisted and invariant profiles to play with too, but I'm wondering how much better a x-rite profile would be?

Try these. No guarantees - profiles are unique to a particular unit. They are Low Contrast/ProPhoto RGB Output, Low Contrast/Adobe RGB Output and Low Contrast/sRGB Output.

Do you use Lightroom or ACR? If so, use the color checker to create profile with the Xrite plugin.

I use both actually.......I was just wondering how much better the color checker profiles are ? I was going to install a couple if someone has already made some for the 5dII and see the colors for myself before I buy it. How many profiles do you have? You make a bunch for different lighting conditions right? I see you're from NE too......Go Big Red! I'm from Lincoln originally :)

I bought the color checker as LR wasn't giving me colors and skin tones I was liking. Since switching to Capture One, color is great and I don't have to mess with custom profiles. But that's just me.

If you go to the X-Rite site, they have raw files with a color checker so you can do the whole process yourself and decide.

The passport is supposed to be shot and profiled under all the different scenarios you're shooting, not a one time deal that you plug into the camera at all.

I don't know if theres a misunderstanding but thats what i'm reading from your posts, we shoot the color passport at the beginning of each shoot after having set-up all the lighting, or in every different ambiance. We then import and can create a custom color profile for each camera for each set, so that the colors are technically correct and match each other across the different sets. After which we'll generally fine tune the colors to our preferences.

The profiles you can import into your camera aren't about color accuracy, moreso just adjusting to taste, i have a couple Velvia custom profiles, but i have to admit i never use them, the video folks use color profiles much more often, but they use low contrast ones to capture as much as possible before color correcting themselves in post.

Outside of LR, through DPP, i find the faithful profile to be most accurate and pleasing with low contrasts, just a question of having the right WB.

Thanks for clarifying :) I tend to like adobe standard and camera faithful the most as well overall for most images
