EDIT: I did not take this picture, I shared it from the source mentioned.

This sentiment is nothing new to me or you.

It popped up on my feed and I wondered when was the last time I gave myself a good moment while taking photos. I have visited some of the coolest places in recent times. Places which people elsewhere would absolutely love to go to.

For me there are two trips, one where I do what this picture is saying and the other where seeing the place through the camera IS the experience. I do try to enjoy the moment from time to time, but not as much as I would like to admit.

Any personal anecdotes?

Nice photography! But The photo does not look real. It looks like 3d photo.

I sometimes find myself not looking at the scene also, but feverishly looking for camera angles. Every once in a while I catch myself and just look for a short bit. But then I don't want to miss good shots which will last forever as opposed to a memory of the scene.

I think it's a dumb sign. Different people appreciate scenes in different ways.

But then, not quite as dumb as a sign I remember from many years ago:

"No stopping! No standing! No loitering! No picture taking! Violators may be shot on sight!"

Pause long enough to read the sign and you could die!

And yes, it was a real sign. And no, I won't tell you where it was, just that if you came across it, you were already in deep trouble for just being there.

Boy, you're right there. Memory is the second thing to go!

The thing is though, some shots I have are only memories of me setting up/experimenting to get the shot. And that in itself was a different experience than if I had carried no camera and taken a phone pic.
