I have read and read and read online and can't seem to find an answer here... I am looking to upgrade my camera. I am currently shooting a 5Dc and want to pick up a new body to shoot weddings with and keep the 5Dc for a backup or to let me wife second shoot with me.

I am looking into the 6D, 5D2 and if i can find a smoking deal the 5D3. Now, with that said, i know second to the 1DX the 5D3 is king of the hill. I am not sure i can spend the extra $1k on the body however, so i am thinking it will either be the 6D or 5D2.

Can someone with experience with the both of these cameras shed some light on this topic for me? From what i can tell the 6D has a smaller body which im not sure i will like as i have pretty big hands. But i'm sure i can get used to it.

Haaaaaaaaalp!

I shoot a 60D (similar size to 6D) and a 5D, both gripped - most of the time. I only notice the difference in size when putting one body down, and immediately picking up the other. Even at that, within seconds I am back on track. The size difference doesn't bother me at all. Other than when switching bodies while shooting, I never notice it. There have been quite a few times that I reach for a the Q-button (it does not have one) while shooting the 5D. Or I reach for the MENU button or ON/OFF switch on the wrong body. They are in completely different locations on these bodies. Really, the size difference doesn't even enter the 'useability' equation.

6d has the benefit of warranty, better iso performance, and, I think, better compatibility with current and future devices.

The camera may be smaller than others but is not small. I have big hands, long but not chubby fingers, and the camera fits just perfect. Never laid eyes on a 5DII, but went through the same decision making process over the last 6 months.

BH and Adorama are both offering 400 off the kit. Find it on the market place board on potn.

Why not just rent a 6d for a couple of days and find out for yourself if it is truly a good fit for YOU. Asking opinions from strangers on the interwebs will never give you the same info you will get by using it yourself. And if you're going to spend that kind of money, $90 for a couple of days of hands-on use is a worthwhile investment to make sure!

I have a 60d and have rented the 6d. The 6d could easily be mistaken for the 60d's FF brother. Most of the buttons are in the same place and physically they are almost identical in size&weight. The higher ISOs is when the differences start to become extremely apparent though ;)

The 6D is not only sized like the 60D, but it has a very similar control layout. The 6D is much smaller than your current camera and does not have a joystick. The 5DII would give you an experience you are already used to but is mostly an incremental improvement over yours. The 5D III is a major improvement over your 5DC, but that, as you know, comes at a price.

If you already have a 5dc, I would stick with the 5d2 as their layouts are the same and their focus is basically the same, so you know what to expect from either camera. I would not want to be switching camera layouts during a wedding.

Comparable yes, but the 6D is better in just about every regard aside from max shutter speed (1/8000 for the 5DII and 1/4000 for the 6D).

Hogloff brought up a good point about switching between the two cameras, if the control differences would confuse you, stick with a 5DII, but if it were me, I'd opt for the 6D (and did recently).

As for size, the 6D is smaller in all areas but the grip, the grip is the same size and in fact if I remember correctly it's actually larger than the grip on a 5D... either way, the difference in grip size isn't at all noticeable to me and I've shot side by side with my 6D and a 5DIII on several occasions.
