I don't know if this counts as an astronomical shot or not but here is a smokey sunrise. Smoke is from the fire near Idyllwild, Ca. Image shot at 300mm.

It will work . Nice shot , like the colors and still being able to see the mountains in the FG and the birds just add to it . Many people never have a camera ready when the sun is in this frame to be imaged . You always have to be careful .

Thanks. I just happened to see this shot while on my patio enjoying a cup of coffee this morning. My 5D3 and 300 lens was already set up for hummingbird photos.

All I can say is wow!

So much in the image it keeps my eyes moving around between the birds, palm tree, mountain in the back and the big orange thingy.
