Thanks sandpiper. I live in Tahoe, and all I see are gulls, terns, jays and some eagles. These are pretty neat

chubri777, this was in London. There's a GBH that is down in Carson Valley now and then that I see, never been able to get a shot of it though.

Yes, I saw that the OP stated the shot was taken in London. Whilst it is potentially possible for a Great Blue Heron to be in London it is extremely unlikely. GBHs are not a regular British species, just a very rare visitor that has got caught up in the wrong winds and got very, very lost. The first officially recorded GBH in Britain was only six years or so ago and I believe there are supposed to be a couple that turned up on the Orkney Islands (above the northern tip of Scotland) and hung around. But a GBH sighting in England is unlikely and given that we have over 60,000 resident Grey Herons (and quite a few in St. James Park), that is almost certainly what it is.
