Better focusing how? (Being curious, not argumentative.)

Off topic - Better AF as in lot more cross points on 5dmk3. Also lot more options like using 1 point or surrounding 4 assist points or 9 points. Comes very handy in AI servo.

Where in the Bay Area are you finding brand new 6D's for $1300?

B&H, Adorama, you need to check the deals forum or other sites where they list these things and click fast once you see them.:)

There have been a few cases of stores selling the 6D with the 24-105 kit lens and sometimes other stuff, like a moderately high-end printer. Here's one post about such a deal.

The bundle is $2400. After tax and shipping the price could be as high as $2700. But when you get the $400 rebate, sell the lens for $700 and the printer for $300, you end up paying $1300 for the camera (plus some paper and an SD card in this case).

There are lots of variables of course. In some places you might not pay tax, in others you might have a hard time selling the printer, etc.

Anyway, that's probably where the price comes from.

First B&H/Adorama charge no shipping.
2nd Most don't pay TAX unless in NY
3rd Good luck selling printer for $300. It is like $100.

1. I'm pretty sure they do charge shipping. I added the linked bundle and printer to my cart at Adorama and they show $12.35 as the cheapest shipping option.

2. Yep, like I said, in some places you might not pay tax. If the latest internet sales tax legislation (external link) passes then before long those people might start paying tax. If the deal appears at a different vendor (Amazon (external link)?) they might charge tax. It's all kind of up in the air right now.

3. Ah, I see that the printer is $389 at Adorama... but with a $300 rebate. Okay fine, you might not get $300 for that. :)

1. No, B&H most definitely does not charge for shipping... handling maybe, for sure not shipping.

2. You're talking about a hypothetical future as if it's relavent to right now...

Not trying to start a conflict/further a conflict, but I've ordered from B&H numerous times and I've never paid shipping.

Depends on the item - but we'll always do our best to match the price of any equally reputable retailer - for unit cost AND shipping cost!! You only need drop me an email: Helen@adorama.com (external link)

6D assuming the price is right. If you can get the 5D2 for a few hundred less, then consider that option.

The problem is the market for 5D2 is higher if not the same for 5D2 bodies, so really its a no brainer to go with a 6D unless shooting 1/8000 is REALLY important to you.

I'm in a similar position. Going with the 5d for a few reasons.
1) I am grabbing it nearly new <3000 actuations for £400 less than a new 6D
2) I have really gotten used to the joystick and much prefer it.
3) dual position power switch to lock scroll wheel or not.6d has the standard switch on top of the camera.
4) body material, adds to weight and size (prefer this to lightweight plastic)
5) only main differences I see are high iso performance and better AF(marginally better AF)
6) low light performance is not hugely important to me.
7) its the camera I have wanted for many many years.
8) buttons are on the right side , by right I mean correct and the left side!
9) CF cards, spent a lot of money on decent cards, not binning them all for crappy SD
