Are there any equivalent, or pretty close, yongnuo models that can match up to either Canon flash?

Yes the YN-500EX is quite close to the 430EX II (though a few tenths of a stop below in power) -

I had one 430EXII and recently bought a YN 568EX thinking it would be a step up. It wasn't: recycle times slower than 430EXII; only about 1/5th as many consecutive flashes for action photography; narrower/more defined beam; blueish color compared to Canon; bigger/bulkier; most importantly, no more powerful than the 430EXII. Nikon D850/D750
