These shots are very nice! I like how the rock is orange at the top!

Around sunset on many days, you can see "the rock" turn orange at this webcam (external link).

Maureen, you're lucky to live so close that you can take day trips there.

Thanks for the tip. Looks like on Saturday it will be blowing in the NW direction, so no smog. I'll be leaving the bay area before 1AM on Saturday morning so I should make it up there with some time to spare before sunrise.

Was just trying to decide if I should head to Glacier Point for sunrise or maybe instead somewhere along the Tioga road like Tenaya Lake or Olmstead Point. Definitely want to shoot in the eastern direction to get the sun coming up in my image.

Sadly there is a big fire at Huntington lake area & the air quality is going to be terrible for a while. :(

Yes, we are lucky. We have been up every month since April. Sequoia Nat'l park is less than an hour; only 35 miles so we are in a good spot to enjoy some of Nature's finest.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Tagnal,... don't be too sure. A sunrise from Glacier Point through the smoke might be very striking. Sometimes that produces a deep red glow.
