From what I've heard, Adorama rates their camera bodies and lenses well below what most people would. I've heard examples of people buying a used lens that was rated E- and getting a really, really nice piece of glass with perhaps a cosmetic blemish on the barrel.

Does anyone have any experience or input on what an E- rated flash would have wrong with it (speculation welcome, obviously).

Thanks!

As per the website:

E- Barrel shows signs of wear and/or moderate usage. Lens glass may have some dust / spots that should not affect picture quality.

If you'd like a couple of pictures of it before you commit yourself, please email me: Helen@adorama.com (external link)

Helen, I went ahead and ordered the 580 ex II in E- condition anyway. At $299 it was a great way to get myself into a professional-caliber flash. Thanks for offering your help--checked you off as giving me assistance when I ordered online.

I ordered a battery grip from them but man if I knew their paid regular shipping was going to be as slow as their super saver shipping I would have gone with that one and saved the cost because it's literally the same speed as the super saver shipping I got last time.(I'm a broke college student and even $4 is a lot to me, that's like 20 top ramens haha)

I'll let you know how the condition goes, the one I got was E.

I also checked off Helen just because of how much everyone raves about her.

Don't forget you have a 6-month warranty on that, which includes a 30-day returns period!

Thanks maverick!

Unfortunately USPS dropped the ball, instead of redirecting my package to my new address they sent it back to Adorama.

You'll probably get your flash way before I get my grip!

I got the "E-" rated 580ex II from Adorama today and it looks to be a solid bargain for $299. It tested out great, looks good cosmetically--Adorama comes through again:)

Pics of flash to come
