I was recently looking at Wayne Radford's portrait work and I like the tone of his black and white images. I know he has a few more editing programs than I do to get his final look but I was wondering if I could achieve a similar tone using Lightroom 5.

I'm guessing it would be with the split toning sliders but I was wondering if some of you more experienced processers could give me an idea of where I need to put the sliders to achieve a similar result.

Many thanks!

I see nobody has replied to this, and since I'm not a portrait shooter and am not familiar with Radford's work, I'm not in a position to offer you expert suggestions...so, here's my suggestion:

If you can post a link to one of his photos that you admire, and then post one of yours where you try your best to emulate it, and then post a screen shot of your Lightroom settings that you used, you may get some real help here!

It should be said that a lot of "special" edits people achieve are either with Photoshop tools or special plug-ins. But the good news is that yes, a lot of good work is being done with Lightroom, and also that many of the popular plug-ins are usable in/with Lightroom, so keep your eyes (and your creative mind) open!

I did a quick trip to Wayne Radford's site. All the black and white conversion and tone control he seems to be doing can easily be accomplished in LR 4 or above.

There are naturally other things he does that may require photoshop but the B&W conversion, and tone control tools are all in Lightroom.
