Cicada on a mesquite tree. You may be able to see its proboscis between the front pair of legs, drilled into the branch.

I really like how you managed to capture the background on this one, I don't find it intrusive and I think it helps showing his environment.

detail and light is great on the cicada

ETA: did you use any type of diffusion on the flash? Did you use a tripod? Sorry for all the questions, I'm going to try macro with that lens very soon!
